Piotr Rotkiewicz

Piotr Rotkiewicz has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and industries. Piotr is currently working as a Senior Software Engineer at CoreMap since January 2021. Prior to that, they were a Principal Software Engineer at Elucid from August 2022 to October 2022.

From 2018 to 2021, Piotr worked at Canadian Bank Note Company, Limited as a Project Manager and Principal Software Architect. In this role, they were responsible for overseeing projects and serving as the lead software architect.

Before that, Piotr was associated with Schrödinger from 2008 to 2017. Piotr started as a Product Manager and later became a Principal Scientist. Piotr'swork at Schrödinger involved the development of Maestro, a molecular modeling front end, as well as improvements to graphics capabilities and the development of bioinformatics and sequence analysis components.

Piotr also has experience at Nanorex, Inc., where they worked as a Multi-Disciplinary Software Engineer in 2008. Piotr developed visualization methods for DNA and protein structures and led a protein design front-end implementation project.

Prior to that, Piotr served as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Burnham Institute for Medical Research from 2005 to 2008. Piotr also worked as a Postdoctoral Associate at the State University of New York at Buffalo from 2003 to 2005, where they developed metabolomics frameworks and protein modeling software.

Earlier in their career, Piotr worked as a Staff Scientist at Geneformatics, Inc. in 2001 and as a Visiting Graduate Student at the Donald Danforth Plant Science Center and The Scripps Research Institute in 1999 and 1997 respectively. During these roles, they contributed to the development of protein structure prediction tools, molecular visualization software, and knowledge-based potentials for protein structure prediction.

Piotr Rotkiewicz obtained their PhD in Chemistry with a specialization in Bioinformatics from the University of Warsaw, where they studied from 1998 to 2002. Prior to their doctoral studies, they completed their Master's degree in Chemistry, with a focus on Computer Science (MISMaP), also at the University of Warsaw, from 1993 to 1998. In the initial years of their educational journey, from 1990 to 1993, they engaged in studying Theoretical Chemistry and Computer Simulations at Krajowy Fundusz na rzecz Dzieci.
