Harry Bryson

Principal Software Engineer at Corero Network Security

Harry Bryson has extensive work experience in the field of software engineering and architecture. Harry began their career at Spider System Ltd in 1989, where they developed terminal servers, routers, and networking software, including a world-wide compatible ISDN stack. Harry then joined Shiva in 1992 as a Senior Software Engineer before moving on to Shiva Europe in 1996 as a Project Consultant, where they managed router development teams and provided consultation for embedded OS, STREAMS, IP, IPX, PPP, and ISDN.

In 1997, Bryson joined 3Com as a Software Architect, where they served as the technical architect for the UK development team and was the primary integrator of TippingPoint IPS into the 3Com firewall platform. Harry also designed and implemented High Availability for the firewall platform. During their time at 3Com, Bryson also held various management positions, including Engineering Manager for the enterprise firewall, load balancer, and webcache teams. Harry led the team developing 3Com's strategy for VPN and firewall technology and presented security solution products at 3Com University to partners and resellers.

Bryson then joined Hewlett-Packard in 2010 as a System Software Engineer VI, where they developed software architecture for a next-generation Linux-based security platform and designed and implemented data plane functionality. Harry was promoted to System Software Engineer VII (Master) in 2011, serving as a software architect and contributing to the successful first release of the NGFW product. Bryson provided consultation for SDN, SSL inspection, and data-plane integration, and developed dedicated IPS functionality within a new code base.

Most recently, Bryson has been working at Corero Network Security since 2015 as a Principal Software Engineer.

Harry Bryson attended Bell-Baxter High School in Cupar, Fife, UK from 1979 to 1985. During their time at Bell-Baxter High School, they were honored with the Balgonie Gold Medal and was recognized as the Dux of the school. Following their secondary education, they enrolled at Heriot-Watt University, where they pursued a degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering. Harry obtained their M.Eng from Heriot-Watt University in 1989.
