Michael Slater

Senior Battery Scientist at Coreshell Technologies

Michael Slater, Ph.D, is Coreshell’s Senior Battery Scientist where he leads battery cell fabrication, electrochemical testing and analysis. Michael comes to Coreshell with 10+ years of experience working in lithium-ion technology. Prior to Coreshell, Michael spent six years at Farasis Energy where he was R&D manager overseeing efforts on advanced lithium-ion battery technology. His work focused on energy density optimization, improving battery safety, and developing sustainable end-of-life recycling processes for batteries. Michael also acted as the primary investigator for several Department of Energy grants that were awarded to Farasis. Earlier in his career, Michael performed post-doctoral research at Argonne National Laboratory where he investigated Li-rich cathode materials and ambient temperate sodium-ion batteries.

Michael holds a Ph.D. in Organic and Analytical Chemistry from the University of California, Berkeley and bachelor’s degrees in Chemistry and Mathematics from the University of California, Santa Cruz.
