Founded in 2022 and based in Reigate, Corinne’s Coffee is a social enterprise providing training and employment opportunities to people with a learning disability (LD).

Our mission is for people with LD to go from dependent to independent by providing them with training and employment opportunities.

Corinne’s is named after a beloved resident and friend of Millsted Care, Corinne, who sadly passed away in 2020. We hope to bring a smile to our customers as Corinne always did to us, continuing her legacy through Corinne’s Coffee!

In September 2022 we purchased a coffee truck, which we are currently revamping with the aim of opening in early 2023.
We will initially be stationed at one of our day care services, Dayspace, in Reigate, however we hope to expand into local events and pitches once we have found our feet.

For those with LD, employment is so much more than an income. Work is hugely beneficial for their mental health, for example improving self-confidence, reducing stress and anxiety, feeling a part of society, building relationships, reducing loneliness and gaining a sense of ambition.

However, many people with LD struggle to find work. The proportion of adults with a learning disability in paid employment has declined by -9% to an all-time low of 5.1% (vs 76% for neurotypical people)*.
People with LD have a right to work just as everyone else, yet there is a huge lack of training & support which act as a barrier to employment.
More needs to be done to support people with LD in employment and bring more diversity to the workplace.

Through the Corinne's Pathway To Employment, trainees will learn valuable life and work skills such as decision making, communication & organisational skills, point of sale, time management and health & food hygiene awareness. 
By the end of the programme we want trainees to be ready for paid employment and pledge to help them apply to external opportunities, or with Corrine's if the opportunity arises.
