Joseph L.

Joseph L. is an experienced professional in the field of medicine and drug safety, currently serving as the Director and Head of Drug Safety at Cormedix Inc. since December 2023. Joseph holds a position as a Governance Committee Member for the NKF Patient Network at the National Kidney Foundation since December 2021 and previously worked as a Clinical Development Fellow at Chinook Therapeutics, Inc., focusing on Global Product Safety and Medical Affairs. With a robust academic background including an M.D. from Makerere University, a PhD from the University of Alberta, and an MSc from Duke University, Joseph has held various roles, including as a Medical Instructor and General Internal Medicine Fellow at Duke University School of Medicine. Notably, Joseph acted as the Lead Investigator at the Durham VA Health Care System, leading significant studies that influenced VA policies, and contributed to policy advocacy efforts for kidney disease through involvement in the American Society of Nephrology and as a founding committee member of the Uganda Kidney Foundation.
