Kevin Thompson

Senior Modeling Engineer at Cornami

Kevin Thompson has worked in the semiconductor industry since 2001. Kevin began their career at Cypress Semiconductor as a Front End ASIC Design Engineer, where they were responsible for architectural improvements to a hardware verification suite written in C++ and wrote the RTL for a downstream transaction translator (DSTT) as part of a USB hub offering. In 2007, they moved to Marvell Semiconductor as a Design Engineer, where they took blocks through DFT, floor planning, physical synthesis, routing, timing, and architecture verification for a custom printer ASIC. Kevin also created a co-simulation environment that had a SystemC front-end (written in C++) that tested a memory controller (written in Verilog). In 2017, Kevin moved to Micron Technology as a Senior Modeling Engineer, where they created hardware models in C++ and SystemC for the Micron Near Memory Computing and New Memory Design modeling groups. Kevin also used the models to create systems to test out new memory technologies, and was tasked with improving build and coding practices in the Near Memory Computing group. Most recently, in 2021, Kevin began working at Cornami, Inc. as a Senior Modeling Engineer.

Kevin Thompson completed a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics and Physics from Willamette University, followed by a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Idaho and a Master's degree in Physics from New Mexico State University.
