Steven Knapp has over 40 years of work experience in the technology industry. Steven began their career in 1980 as a Research Assistant at MIT Lincoln Laboratory, where they developed automated test facility hardware and software to evaluate new materials for high-precision infrared position detectors. In 1984, they joined Intel Corp. as an Applications Engineer, driving design-in efforts and customer support for Intel Magnetics Operation. In 1986, they joined Xilinx, Inc. as a Vertical/Corporate Applications Manager, where they managed the Xilinx SRAM-based FPGA application engineering team, wrote and published technical data sheets, and managed the worldwide technical seminar series. In 1997, they founded OptiMagic, Inc. and served as President and CEO, where they developed Presto! Logic, a software product that automatically generates programmable logic designs. In 1998, they joined Triscend Corporation as Director, Vice-President Applications Engineering, and wrote and published detailed product data sheets for their device families. In 2002, they returned to Xilinx as Sr. Applications Engineering Manager, and managed the application engineering team for the high-volume, low-cost Spartan FPGA families. In 2007, they joined Prevailing Technology, Inc. as President/Principal Engineer, where they helped high-technology companies to establish their technology as the prevailing technology. Finally, in 2016, they rejoined Cornami Inc. as Principal Engineer, and in 2019 they were promoted to A.I. Architect.
Steven Knapp attended Las Cruces High School from 1977 to 1980, and then went on to receive a BSc in Materials Science & Engineering (Course III) from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1984.
