Torben Schmidt is a Full Professor at Leuphana University Lüneburg, where they have been since 2012. Prior to this role, they served as a Junior Professor of Teaching English as a Foreign Language at the same institution from 2011 to 2012. Schmidt has also been a Guest Professor at both the University of Education and Saint Mary's University in 2019 and 2010, respectively. Additionally, they authored and edited course books with Westermann Gruppe from 2012 to 2019 and currently serve on the AI Board at Cornelsen Verlag GmbH. Schmidt earned their doctorate in English didactics from Johann Wolfgang Goethe University Frankfurt am Main between 2004 and 2007.
