Brian Casas is a research and development crystal grower with a deep passion for understanding the properties of materials. As a current Staff Materials Scientist at Corning Incorporated, they focus on improving CaF2 single crystals for DUV applications. Previously, they were a Postdoctoral Researcher at the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory and a Graduate Student Researcher at UC Irvine, where they synthesized a topological Kondo insulator. They hold a Ph.D. in Condensed Matter Physics from UC Irvine, a Master's from the University of South Florida, and a Bachelor's in Physics from Rutgers University-New Brunswick. Brian is also dedicated to mentorship, believing in its importance for retaining talent from underrepresented groups.
