Lei Mu possesses extensive experience in mechanical engineering, focusing on research and development in various industries. As a Research and Teaching Assistant at New Mexico State University from August 2017 to July 2021, significant contributions included the development of a novel solar desalination method and a new fracture-necking-combined failure model for lightweight metals. Prior experience as an R&D engineer and research assistant at the University of Science and Technology Beijing involved completing over 10 projects across multiple sectors, alongside conducting standard mechanical tests for material characterization. Additional roles include a Research and Development Internship at Novelis, where a new quenching device was designed, and a Visiting Researcher position at The Ohio State University, where robust finite element analysis models for sheet stamping processes were developed. Currently serving as a Senior Applied Mechanics Modeling Scientist at Corning Incorporated, Lei Mu holds a Graduate degree in Mechanical Engineering from New Mexico State University and a Master's degree from the University of Science and Technology Beijing.
