Werner Smit

Werner Smit is a seasoned professional in the telecommunications industry with extensive experience spanning over two decades. Currently serving as a Senior Technical Sales Manager at Corning Optical Communications since June 2016, Werner focuses on advancing FTTX networks by offering innovative solutions and products for both OSP carrier and ISP datacentre networks. Prior to this role, Werner was a Senior Pre sales/Solutions Engineer Manager at Coriant, Inc. from January 2008 to June 2016, where responsibilities included managing sales functions, providing customer support, and collaborating with the sales team on technical solutions. Earlier in the career, Werner worked at Nokia as a Senior Technical Support Engineer and began as a Transmission Specialist at Siemens, gaining substantial expertise in Transmission systems and installations across various Southern African regions. Werner holds a National Diploma in Electrical, Electronic, and Communications Engineering Technology from Pretoria Technicon and possesses a Grade 12 academic qualification from Akasia High School.
