Tony was appointed Surveillance Camera Commissioner by the UK Home Secretary in 2014 and fulfilled the role for 7 years. He set up the National Surveillance Camera Strategy, established a suite of surveillance standards and produced guidance to law enforcement on the lawful and ethical use of facial recognition systems. He has a combination of business and law enforcement expertise. He is an intelligence specialist whose experience spans community and business engagement, finance sector, international counter-terrorism and serious and organized crime. As Police Commander, he led counter-terrorism investigations for the UK for the London Olympic Games 2012.
