Torick D. has a diverse work experience in the field of software engineering and programming. Starting in 2017, they worked as a Code to Success Peer Mentor, assisting high school students with coursework in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Ruby on Rails. In 2018, they became a Code to Success College Mentor, further helping students with Bottega coursework in web development technologies.
In 2016, Torick interned as a Fiber Optics Intern, where they gained experience in maintaining and updating UDOT cabinet data and fiber network information. Torick also assisted with fiber route design and project documentation.
Torick then joined Horrocks Engineers as a GIS Programmer Intern, developing progressive web applications with Vue.js and ESRI Web AppBuilder. Torick later transitioned to a full-time role as a GIS Programmer, where they coordinated with teams and developers to iterate the development of map websites and internal tool features.
In 2020, Torick worked as a Computer Science Grader at Utah Valley University, grading assignments and providing support to students.
Later, they joined Via as a Software Engineer II, contributing to the creation and improvement of a mobile and conversational-commerce platform. Torick worked in multiple cross-functional and test-driven development teams, gaining experience with modern full-stack technologies.
At Via, Torick also took on the role of Engineering Experience Lead, where they continued their responsibilities as an individual contributor. Torick focused on advancing product parity, feature development, customer segmentation, and improving developer experience within and outside the codebase. Torick also led engineer orientation and onboarding, trained the organization, and conducted code-challenge reviews.
Most recently, Torick joined Corso as a Software Engineer in 2022, contributing to the development of software projects.
Torick D. has an education history that includes a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, as well as an Associate of Science degree in University Studies, both from Utah Valley University. Torick attended Utah Valley University from 2017 to 2021. Prior to that, Torick attended American Fork High School from 2014 to 2017. In addition to these degrees, Torick has obtained several certifications, including Microsoft Office Specialist certifications in PowerPoint 2016, Word 2016 Expert, Excel 2016, and Word 2016, as well as a Microsoft Technology Associate certification in HTML5 Application Development Fundamentals. Torick also holds an IC3 Digital Literacy GS4 certification.
