Laura Beard

Laura Beard, LMSW, is an experienced social worker with a comprehensive background in providing support to individuals with neurological disorders and those at the end of life. Currently serving as a social worker at the Department of Neurology at MSU since July 2019, Laura Beard engages with patients experiencing muscular dystrophy and other neurological conditions, offering active listening and resource assistance. Prior roles include positions at CorsoCare and Compassus, where emotional support, education, and logistical assistance were provided to patients and families facing end-of-life challenges. Additionally, Laura Beard worked as a long-term care social worker at Holt Senior Care and Rehab Center, conducting assessments and developing behavioral care plans for geriatric residents. Laura Beard holds a Master’s of Social Work from the University of Michigan School of Social Work and a Bachelor’s of Social Work from Hope College.
