Steven Pires

Steven Pires serves as the Associate Director of Sustainability at Cotton Incorporated, where responsibilities include directing cotton sustainability research programs and managing initiatives that enhance understanding of life cycle assessment methodologies in the cotton supply chain. Pires presents findings at industry conferences, collaborates with marketing teams for strategic messaging, and publishes original research to position Cotton Incorporated as a thought leader. Pires is also pursuing a PhD at North Carolina State University, focusing on the environmental impact of cotton textiles and the role of biogenic carbon. Previous roles include Project Manager and Environmental Scientist at AECOM, Vice President at Triangle Life Cycle Assessment LLC, and various research positions at North Carolina State University and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. Educational qualifications include a Master of Science in Forest Biomaterials Science and a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Technology and Management, both from North Carolina State University.
