County Kids Read is a volunteer-run charity with 15 years of experience serving Prince Edward County families. Each month, we distribute over 600 free books at community events and through established relationships with 13 community partners. The joy and benefits of book ownership is what makes our approach unique. Inspired by the Ontario Human Rights Commission’s declaration that learning to read is a basic and essential human right, we prioritize lower-income families (who are less likely to have books in their homes) to ensure that all local children have an equal right to read - and to a future.
