Lev Song

Lev (YoungHoon) Song is a seasoned engineer specializing in backend development and machine learning, currently serving as a Senior Backend Engineer at Coupang since November 2022. In this role, Lev led a significant rearchitecture of user feed API servers, achieving a 66% reduction in latency through the implementation of the CQRS pattern with Redis. Prior experience includes positions at NAVER Corp, where Lev worked on deploying abusive product detection models and developing location-based shopping systems as part of the Commerce AI Team and the POI Search & Recommendation Team. Lev holds a Master's degree in Data Mining from the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, where the thesis focused on real-time, context-aware recommendation systems, and a Bachelor's degree in Economics and Statistics from Sungkyunkwan University. Military service was completed in the Republic of Korea Army from December 2011 to September 2013.
