James DeVaney has extensive experience in academic innovation and digital education, currently serving as Special Advisor to the President and Founding Executive Director of the Center for Academic Innovation at the University of Michigan since January 2014. In addition to various leadership roles within the university, including Associate Vice Provost and Assistant Vice Provost, James serves on advisory councils for notable organizations such as 2U, Coursera, and Noodle.
