David Acker

David Acker is the former president and CEO of Sleepy's, the Mattress Professionals. During his 38-year tenure, David grew the organization to more than 1,100 stores, with a fully operational e-commerce business, across 17 states. Of David’s many accomplishments, the most significant was the close-knit community of more than 3,300 employees that made up the Sleepy's family. The company was sold in 2016 to a strategic public acquirer. David resides in New York City with his wife, Andrea, whom he has been married to since 1984. They have two sons and also enjoy being grandparents. David is actively involved in the Young Presidents Organization, and the Acker Family serves as board members of the Spence-Chapin Family Services Agency, the 92nd Street Y, and New York City’s Women's Voices for Change. David was elected to the Covenant House International board of directors in September 2016.
