Florian Hertel has a diverse work experience in various roles and companies. Florian started their career at Procter&Gamble in 2006 as a Process Engineer, focusing on implementing standard work processes and increasing process reliability. Florian then joined Outotec in 2007, where they held multiple roles such as Project Engineer, QA/QC Site-Manager, Lead Engineer, Liaison Engineer, Site Representative, and Site Manager. During their time at Outotec, Florian was responsible for technical implementations, coordinating engineering aspects, and site management for various international projects. In 2017, they joined Stepan Company as a Corporate Senior Project Manager, overseeing the implementation of a new technology. Florian later moved to Shell in 2018 as a Project Manager, responsible for major maintenance projects. Currently, they are working at Covestro as the Head of Engineering NL and Meppen, coordinating engineering activities. Florian Hertel's education history begins in 1986 when they attended St. Andreasschool in Velden, Netherlands, where they completed their primary school education. Florian then went on to St. Thomascollege (Grammar school) in Venlo, Netherlands from 1992 to 1998, obtaining their VWO (Dutch University entrance diploma). Following this, Florian attended the University of Twente from 1998 to 2006, earning their Master of Science in Mechanical engineering (with honours). Florian'sfocus of study during their time at the university included production technology, laser technology, and fiber reinforced plastics.

In addition to their formal education, Florian Hertel has also obtained the PMQ (Project Management Qualification) certification from APM in December 2018.
