Helen Finlay

Associate Director Of Global Policy at CDP

Helen Finlay has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and organizations. Starting from 2011, they worked as a Research Intern at UNDP before joining the Foundation for Community Initiatives as an Environmental Project Officer. In this role, they conducted research on the impact of extractive industries in Liberia, focused on women's empowerment and conducted trainings for women and girls.

In 2013, Helen became the Country Program Coordinator at OSIWA, where they managed communications and grant projects related to anti-corruption, accountability, freedom of information, and climate change mitigation. Helen then transitioned to the role of Research Analyst at UNDP in 2014.

From 2015 to 2017, Helen worked as a Consultant - Environment and Climate Change at IPE Triple Line, where they were responsible for program management, communication, and business development. In 2018, they worked as a Team Lead at FAO before joining Social Impact as a Monitoring and Evaluation Lead, evaluating agricultural sustainability and forest management programs.

In 2018, Helen also worked as a Sustainability Policy Consultant as a freelancer, leading and consulting on green energy and climate change policy projects for various clients including GIZ, Action Aid, and USAID.

Currently, since 2019, Helen is employed at CDP, where they have held the roles of Senior Manager - Global Forests and Water Policy from 2019 to 2021, and currently works as the Associate Director of Global Policy.

Helen Finlay completed their Master of Science (MSc) in Environment and Development from The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) between 2015 and 2017. Prior to that, they obtained a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Environmental Policy from Open University in 2013. Helen also holds another Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Geography from the University of Bristol, which they completed in 2011.
