Tom Oates

Tom Oates is a Senior District Crown Prosecutor and the Unit Head of the Magistrates Court Unit at CPS East Midlands, overseeing operations across multiple counties. They manage a team of Legal Managers and work closely with the Executive Group to set strategic direction while collaborating with stakeholders to improve the Criminal Justice System. Prior to this role, Tom served as a District Crown Prosecutor in the RASSO Unit and was instrumental in the implementation of remote courts during the COVID-19 pandemic. Tom holds a Bachelor's degree in Law from Nottingham Trent University and has extensive experience, including prior management of a significant Criminal Defence department.
