Darren Toner

Darren Toner has extensive experience in the finance industry. Darren began their career with GE Capital in 2005, where they worked as an Associate Director in Leveraged Finance. In this role, they were responsible for underwriting and credit analysis of primary participation deals in the European LBO market. Darren also gained exposure to syndicated cash flow deals.

In 2010, Darren joined CQS, where they held various roles. Darren started as a European Desk Analyst in the Long/Short Credit Fund, focusing on trade idea generation and actively managing the High Yield Bond portfolio. Darren specialized in Credit Default Swaps, High Yield Bonds, Loans, and IG corporate bonds.

In 2013, Darren took on the position of Head of HY, IG & Financial Portfolios; Co-Fund Manager for the Total Return Credit Fund at CQS. In this global credit-focused role, they managed the High Yield, Investment Grade, and Financial portfolios for dedicated long-only and multi-asset credit fund mandates, responsible for approximately $4 billion in assets under management. Their expertise lies in European and US HY Corporate credit, with a focus on long-only trade ideas through cash and derivative products.

Darren Toner attended University College Dublin from 2000 to 2003, where they earned a 1st Class Honours degree in Economics & Finance.
