Wolfgang Busch

Wolfgang Busch is a Professor at the Salk Institute for Biological Studies and serves as the Executive Director of the Harnessing Plants Initiative, focusing on leveraging plant genetics for carbon dioxide removal and climate change mitigation. They hold the Hess Chair in Plant Science and are an Adjunct Professor at the University of California, San Diego. Wolfgang conducts research on root development and its role in carbon storage, aiming to reduce agricultural greenhouse gas emissions. They earned their PhD at the Max Planck Institute for Developmental Biology and have published over 80 scientific papers, receiving multiple international awards for their contributions to the field.
