CRANE (Cyber Security Research and Networking Environment) is a UK-wide research network funded by UKRI’s Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC).

We bring together academia, industry, government and the third sector to strengthen the UK’s cybersecurity research ecosystem and support delivery of the UK National Cyber Strategy.

Our mission is to foster an inclusive, interdisciplinary and sustainable research community that anticipates emerging cyber threats and drives innovative, impactful solutions.

CRANE connects researchers and stakeholders across disciplines including computer science, social sciences, law, economics and public policy — creating collaboration opportunities that enhance security, resilience and societal benefit.

Through events, working groups, funding opportunities and strategic engagement, CRANE serves as a national hub for cybersecurity research networking and community development.

CRANE provides:

- A national cybersecurity research network
- Community events, workshops and sandpits
- Support for pilot research projects
- Horizon scanning and emerging technology insights
- Platforms for industry and government engagement
