Ellen Bruno

Ellen Bruno is a San Francisco-based documentary filmmaker with over 50 national and international awards. As Director of The SPLIT Outreach Project since January 2013 and Producer/Director at BrunoFilms since January 1985, Bruno has made significant contributions to the film industry. Bruno serves on the boards of the International Buddhist Film Festival, Ethical Traveler, and Pacific Pioneer Fund, while also holding roles as a Professional Development Leader with Creative Capital since 1999. Previous experience includes hospice volunteering at the Zen Caregiving Project and coordinating sponsorship for nuns escaping Tibet. Early career highlights include directing the Refugee Program at the American Friends Service Committee, as well as working as a Political Asylum Caseworker for the American Embassy's Refugee Section. Bruno holds a Master's degree in Documentary Film from Stanford University and a Bachelor's degree from Georgetown University.
