Kristin Murner has been working in the field of learning design since 1996. Kristin began their career as a Site Representative for Webster University in Rolla, MO, where they were responsible for opening the campus and soliciting bids for physical equipment. Kristin then became an Assistant Center Director, evaluating admissions packets and registering students for classes. In 2001, Murner moved to Kaplan Test Prep, where they served as Regional Medical and Nursing Director, Regional Account Director for Kaplan Nursing, and Director of Instructional Design. In 2020, they became Director of Learning Design at Kaplan North America, conducting feature and gap analysis of 10 learning management systems and designing a standard product evaluation rubric. In 2021, Murner joined Soomo Learning as Lead Learning Designer, establishing a learning design framework for creating webtexts and creating a learning scaffold. Most recently, in 2022, they became Learning Design Lead at CreatorUp, collaborating with internal and client teams to ensure learning content is engaging and sticky.
Kristin Murner has a diverse educational background. Kristin obtained their Diploma from Woodstock Union HS in 1991, followed by a BS in Physics with a concentration in Medical Physics from Mercer University in 1995. Kristin then pursued an MBA in Marketing from Webster University between 1996 and 1998. In 2014, they earned a Master of Science in Education (MSEd) with a focus on Instructional Design and Technology from Kaplan University/Purdue University Global. Murner has also obtained two additional certifications: The Wingfeather Saga 2021 Season 1 Investors from The Wingfeather Saga | Angel Studios in December 2022, and the NIH "Protecting Human Research Participants" from the National Institute of Health (NIH) Office of Extramural Research in March 2015.
