Paterson College from 1991 to 1998, where they obtained a Queensland Senior Certificate. Christopher'sfield of study during this time included English, Maths, Chemistry, Physics, Music, and Information Technology.

In addition to their formal education, Christopher Smekel has obtained several certifications. In 2017, they became an Advanced Adventurer and Open Water Diver through Scuba Schools International. Christopher also holds the qualification of a Justice of the Peace (Qualified) from the Queensland Department of Justice and Attorney-General, which they obtained in 2013. Furthermore, in 2011, they became a PRINCE2 Practitioner through APMG.
