David Cavuto started their career as a Network Consultant at Bell Laboratories, where they worked on DREN and TAS projects. David then joined Lucent Technologies as a Principal Engineer responsible for designing new features and supporting the development of products like the Lucent VPN Firewall. David also participated in standards bodies to improve security and internetworking standards.
After that, Cavuto worked at Acentric Networks as a Network Security Engineer, where they administered network infrastructure and security policies for customer networks. David managed Cisco routers, firewalls, IDS, proxies, mail servers, and Windows servers.
In 2002, Cavuto joined AT&T as a Network Security Analyst and Systems Engineer. David played a role in designing components for the AT&T Internet Protect service and internal network monitoring and VoIP monitoring projects.
Cavuto then moved to Narus, Inc. in 2009 as the Director of Federal Product Engineering, leading the Narus Federal team in technical sales and solutions. David ensured that installed systems met customer requirements.
From 2012 to 2013, Cavuto served as the Director of Field Product Management at Narus Inc., overseeing analytics development for the Narus nSystem. David wrote and maintained customer and marketing requirements documents and conceptualized new network security analytics based on customer feedback and market knowledge.
Since 2013, Cavuto has been associated with Splunk, where they have held multiple roles. David started as a Staff Sales Engineer and later became a Principal Product Manager for Splunk Stream, overseeing product requirements and maintaining customer relationships. David then served as the Senior Consulting Sales Engineering Manager before completing their tenure in 2022.
Currently, Cavuto is the Director of Product Management at Cribl, where they lead product-related activities.
David Cavuto completed their education at The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art. David received their Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from 1991 to 1996. David also pursued their Master's degree in the same field from 1991 to 1997. In addition to their academic qualifications, David Cavuto obtained several certifications including Splunk Core Certified Power User, Splunk Enterprise Certified Admin, Splunk Enterprise Certified Architect, and Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) from institutions such as Splunk and (ISC)².
