Barry Ubbels holds a degree in transport and regional economics from the Free University Amsterdam and has a PhD in Economics from the same institution. Ubbels began their career as a researcher at VU University Amsterdam, working on applied scientific research while completing their dissertation on road pricing. They have served as a senior consultant in transport economics at Panteia and have contributed to projects for the Dutch Ministry of Transport and the European Commission. Currently, Ubbels is a strategic advisor in mobility and public space for the city of Amsterdam, focusing on evidence-based research to address urban mobility challenges. Additionally, they are a member of the Program Council for KpVV/CROW.
