James Colliander

James Colliander is an accomplished academic and entrepreneur with a strong background in mathematics and physics. Currently serving as Partnerships Lead at 2i2c and as a Community Panelist for NASA's Transform to Open Science initiative, James has a robust involvement in advancing collaborative efforts in the scientific community. As a Professor of Mathematics at the University of British Columbia, James focuses on mathematical research in harmonic analysis, partial differential equations, and dynamical systems, while also mentoring emerging scholars. James co-founded Crowdmark, enhancing educational tools for both students and teachers, and previously held several significant roles, including Director at the Pacific Institute for the Mathematical Sciences and Professor at the University of Toronto. With a PhD in Mathematics from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and extensive research experience, including early work at the Naval Research Laboratory and 3M, James demonstrates a comprehensive commitment to both academic excellence and innovation in educational methodologies.
