Ke Wei Chen has a strong background in software engineering, with extensive experience in the payments and subscription systems. They joined Crunchyroll in 2013 and served as a Staff Software Engineer, where they led the development of the payments system, implemented event sourcing and domain-driven design, and integrated alternative payment methods. In 2017, they were promoted to Senior Software Engineer and took on additional responsibilities such as leading the payments team through annual PCI audits and decoupling the payments and subscriptions systems. They also implemented a new subscription integration with iTunes. Prior to these roles, Ke Wei Chen worked as a Software Engineer at Crunchyroll, where they focused on achieving PCI compliance, introduced a new testing framework, and helped architect a REST API. Before joining Crunchyroll, they had experience as an Associate Software Engineer, where they worked on developing responsive store pages and supporting right-to-left language and translation features. Ke Wei Chen started their career as an intern at Crunchyroll, where they led the redesign of store carousel and product pages, developed store pages and emails, and added features to the ecommerce CMS. Outside of Crunchyroll, Ke Wei Chen worked as a Freelance Web Designer and Administrator, as well as a Research Assistant at Penn State University Park. They also served as a Peer Tutor at Penn State Lehigh Valley and a Research Intern at Lehigh University.
Ke Wei Chen attended Penn State University from 2009 to 2013, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Computer Science with Honors. In December 2019, they also earned the certification of Amazon Web Services Solutions Architect - Associate from Amazon Web Services (AWS).
