Ryan Brown has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and companies. Starting in 2012, they worked as a Software Engineer Intern at Google, where they wrote infrastructure management software. In the same year, they also worked as a Cloud Infrastructure Consultant at CypherWorx, Inc., designing and maintaining scalable infrastructure in the Rackspace cloud.
In 2013, Ryan joined the Lab for Technological Literacy at Rochester Institute of Technology as a Student Systems Administrator, where they managed web servers and wrote web utilities. Ryan also worked as a Teaching Assistant in the Humanitarian Free and Open Source Software course, mentoring students and teaching them about open source projects.
Ryan then moved on to Hudl in 2013, working as an Automation Engineer. Ryan developed Python metrics/analytics applications and improved AWS infrastructure security.
In 2014, Ryan joined Red Hat as a Principal Software Engineer, contributing to the Ansible and OpenStack Heat projects. Ryan built features and submitted fixes upstream and downstream, as well as backported new features to stable releases.
From 2018 to 2020, Ryan worked at Trek10, Inc. as a Lead Cloud Architect. Ryan led client-facing engagements and worked on cloud migrations, application refactors, and infrastructure security projects.
In 2020, Ryan joined Vendia as a Core Software Engineer, where they worked on control-plane tools and features for managing AWS accounts and security boundaries. Ryan also mentored new hires and documented technical decisions.
In 2022, Ryan worked at Stedi as a Serverless Engineer, building telemetry, billing, and business intelligence dashboards. Ryan also developed software for pay-per-use billing and entitlement management.
Most recently, in 2023, Ryan joined Crunchyroll as a Principal Engineer.
Ryan Brown obtained their Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Networking and Systems Administration from Rochester Institute of Technology, where they studied from 2009 to 2013. In addition to their degree, Ryan also obtained two certifications from Amazon Web Services (AWS). In June 2018, they became an AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate, and in April 2019, they achieved the AWS Solutions Architect Pro certification.
