Michael Thoma is the Co-Founder of CryptoEQ. Prior to this, they worked as a Petroleum Geologist, Wellsite Geologist and Exploration Geologist for BHP Billiton from June 2014 to August 2018. In their role as Regional Caribbean-Exploration Geologist, they were responsible for basin screening, seismic interpretation, chronostratigraphy, seismic stratigraphy, DSG, Petrel, ArcGIS and GDE mapping, with a focus on offshore Trinidad, Guyana and Suriname areas. As Gulf of Mexico Operations-Wellsite Geologist, their duties included mudlogging, LWD and wireline services, core handling and processing, safety assessments and the quality assurance of all acquired data and reporting. Michael also worked with the Pore Pressure team on a new, real-time quantitative pore pressure trend detection method aimed at helping detect downhole pore pressure issues and reduce downtime/increase safety. From 2015-2016, they served as Eagle Ford Shale Production-Development and Operations Geologist, where they were in charge of detailed well planning, inventory creation, geosurveillance and geosteering. Michael's day-to-day software included GeoDirect (geosteering) and Petrel (well planning, inventory creation, mapping, seismic interpretation). Finally, as Haynesville Shale Production-Field Studies Team Geologist from 2014-2015, they were responsible for geosteering in HNAV and Petrel and created and implemented a Haynesville mechanical stratigraphy type log and "Rock Competency" log to better illustrate preferential

The educational career for Michael Thoma includes a Master's degree in Geology/Earth Science from Louisiana State University and a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Geology/Earth Science from Louisiana State University.
