Jonathan Coles

Jonathan Coles is a highly skilled professional with extensive experience in high-performance computing and software engineering. Currently serving as Group Leader and Senior HPC Applications Engineer at CSCS since September 2022, Jonathan Coles previously worked at the Technical University of Munich as a Research Associate and Systems Administrator, spearheading the development of molecular dynamics software POLARIS(MD) and managing a substantial computing cluster. Jonathan Coles has held various roles, including HPC Specialist at the Leibniz Supercomputing Centre and Post-doctoral Researcher at the UVSQ Université de Versailles Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines, focusing on advanced computational methods in molecular dynamics. Jonathan Coles holds a Ph.D. in Theoretical Astrophysics from the University of Zurich and multiple degrees in Computer Science from the Rochester Institute of Technology, supplemented by early career experiences with leading tech organizations such as Sun Microsystems.
