Carles Sierra is the Director of the Artificial Intelligence Research Institute (IIIA-CSIC) at CSIC and has been in this position since 2019. They began their research career while studying computer science and completed a PhD in 1989, following which they became a tenured scientist at CSIC. Carles moved to the IIIA-CSIC in 1994 and was appointed full Professor in 2003. Additionally, they serve as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Technology Sydney and have held various teaching and research roles throughout their career.
