Alex Held is the Chief Scientist for Earth Observation and AquaWatch at CSIRO, bringing over 30 years of experience in domestic and international earth observation programs and policy. With technical expertise in optical and microwave remote sensing, plant physiology, and agronomy, Alex has held key leadership roles, including Director of the CSIRO Centre for Earth Observation and the AusCover Facility. Alex has contributed to prominent scientific committees, such as CEOS and GEO, and was recognized with the COSPAR Massey Award in 2020. Alex completed advanced degrees in Plant Physiology at the University of California, Davis, and has held a postdoctoral position at Stanford University.
