Ashmita Sengupta

Ashmita Sengupta is a Principal Research Scientist and Team Lead for Modeling Water Ecosystems at the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (CSIRO), where they have worked since 2017. With over 15 years of experience in environment, policy, and governance, Ashmita focuses on adaptive water resource management and ecosystem modeling, examining the impacts of climate change and anthropogenic stressors. They have secured nearly 19 million AUD in project funding and have received several industry awards for research and science communication. Ashmita actively engages with stakeholders, employing participatory approaches to ensure project relevance and effectiveness. They hold a Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering and are currently pursuing a Master of Science in Civil Engineering at the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
