Dr. Chris Bourke is the Director of Indigenous Science and Engagement at CSIRO, where they lead initiatives aimed at fostering respectful partnerships with Indigenous Australia to address national challenges. A Gamillaroi man and Australia’s first Indigenous dentist, Chris holds postgraduate diplomas in Public Health and Clinical Dentistry (Oral Implants), as well as an MBA. They have held various roles in the healthcare sector, including leadership positions in public health policy and ministerial roles within the ACT Legislative Assembly from 2011 to 2016. Additionally, Chris is an Honorary Professor at Macquarie University and has contributed to improving Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health policies throughout their career.
