James Austin

Principal Geophysicist

James Austin is a Principal Geophysicist at CSIRO Mineral Resources, where they lead Potential Fields Geophysics, focusing on the integration of geophysics, geochemistry, and geology in 3-D to better understand mineral systems. With 22 years of experience across various sectors, James has worked on a wide range of mineral deposits, including Iron Oxide Copper-Gold and Magmatic Ni-Cu systems. They previously held roles as a Geologist at the Economic Geology Research Centre and as a consultant for Pitney Bowes MapInfo, among others, and conducted research as a Post-doctoral Research Fellow at CSIRO. James holds a PhD in Geology and Geophysics from James Cook University, along with a BSc (Hons) from Macquarie University.
