Michael Batten

Michael Batten has a diverse professional background spanning over two decades, beginning as an Emerging Markets Equities Analyst at Reuters Data from June 2003 to March 2004, where responsibilities included equities analysis and commodity instrument classification. Following this, Michael served as a Shift Supervisor at Johnson Matthey from September 2004 to November 2007, managing automotive catalyst production processes and conducting technical investigations. Currently, since May 2019, Michael holds the position of Senior Scientist at CSIRO, focusing on the redirection of waste materials, particularly mixed plastic waste and microplastics, into raw material inputs for industry, emphasizing circular economics in chemical processes. Michael is also pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry-Pharmacology at Monash University since 1993.
