Ryan Spence

Ryan Spence is a Senior Systems Engineer currently working on the Square Kilometre Array Observatory in Western Australia, focusing on acceptance, integration, and verification of the Low Telescope Systems. Previously, Ryan held positions as a Hardware Engineer at Rheinmetall Defence, where they engaged in international collaboration on defense simulation systems, and as a System Engineer at Cubic Transportation Systems, leading software development teams on automatic fare collection projects. Ryan's engineering background includes a Master's and Bachelor's degree in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering from The University of Queensland, supplemented by international experience in Japan, Sweden, and China. They have developed skills in systems thinking, stakeholder management, numerical simulation, and fluid dynamics, with a keen interest in space and scramjets. Outside of work, Ryan enjoys maintaining a healthy lifestyle and traveling.
