Terry O'Kane

Group Lead

Terry O'Kane is currently a senior principal research scientist at CSIRO Environment in Hobart, where they lead the Modelling the Earth System group. Previously, Terry led several teams focused on geophysical fluids and climate forecasting and served as an ensemble prediction scientist at the Bureau of Meteorology. They have held adjunct positions at prominent institutions, including the University of Tasmania and Princeton, and have contributed extensively to climate research. Terry received a PhD in applied mathematics in 2003 and was awarded a Doctor of Science in 2022 from the University of Melbourne for their research in atmospheric dynamics and related fields. They have also been recognized for their work in statistical mechanics and dynamics, receiving the 2013 JH Michell Medal from the Australian Mathematical Society.
