Sam Hou

Sam Hou is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in research and innovation within the pharmaceutical and biotechnology sectors. Currently serving as Director of Research Bern - Therapeutic Areas at CSL Behring AG since June 2018, Sam oversees two research groups and aligns local efforts with global initiatives. Previously, as Senior Vice President at Glenmark Pharmaceuticals SA from September 2006 to April 2018, Sam led the B biologics research team, focusing on drug discovery and developing patent-protected technologies. Early career roles include Group Leader at the Edward Jenner Institute for Vaccine Research, Lecturer in Immunology at the University of Otago, and PostDoctoral Research Associate at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, where significant contributions were made to understanding T cell memory. Sam earned a PhD in Immunology from the University of Melbourne and holds a BSc-MSc in Microbiology from the University of Otago.
