Svenja Rohde

Head GPS Surveillance

Svenja Rohde is a highly qualified scientist with extensive experience in pathogen safety and virology. Currently serving as a Senior Scientist and Head of Global Pathogen Safety Surveillance at CSL since January 2022, Svenja previously held the position of Scientist in the same department from July 2019 to December 2021. Svenja's early career included postdoctoral research fellowships at the Institute of Virology, Philipps-University Marburg, where significant projects included the evaluation of diagnostic tools for hemorrhagic fever viruses and the analysis of Ebola virus pathogenicity factors. A notable contribution to public health was Svenja's involvement in an Ebola diagnostic field mission in Guinea under the WHO's European Mobile Lab Project. Academic achievements include a Dr. rer. nat. degree in Virology, awarded summa cum laude, and a Diplom in Human Biology with a focus on Molecular Biology and Infectious Biology from Philipps-Universität Marburg.
