Jan Bures

Jan Bures is a highly experienced economist currently serving as a Member of the Board at the Committee for Budgetary Forecasts since May 2024. In addition to this role, Jan has been the Chief Economist at Patria Finance since January 2017, where responsibilities include coordinating research projects, delivering macroeconomic forecasts, managing consulting efforts, and communicating with the media. Jan's extensive background also includes a long-term position as a Senior Economist at CSOB since October 2005, focusing on data analysis and economic forecasting for Germany and the Czech Republic. Previous roles encompass an Economic Advisor position for the Economic Advisory Team of the Central Crisis Staff of the Czech Republic, Chief Economist at Poštovní spořitelna ČSOB, and Head of Economic Research at Europeum. Jan commenced a career as an Analyst at the Czech Statistical Office in 2002. Academic qualifications include an M.A. in Economic Policy and Macroeconomics of Financial Markets and a Bachelor’s degree in Economic Policy and Macroeconomics, both from the Prague University of Economics and Business.
