Ray Poorman

President/CTO at CSS Communications

Ray Poorman has held a variety of roles in the technology industry since 1988. Ray began their career as President and CTO of Computer Systems and Services, where they built a successful systems integration company and implemented thousands of LANs, VPNs, and secured systems. Ray also served as a network engineering instructor and project manager. In 1996, they became a speaker for Netware Users International. The following year, they joined Novell as a Network Technology Speaker & Consultant, where they provided educational services for Netware Users International and served as a public speaker for NUI road shows. In 2004, they became IT Manager for Core Builders and, in 2005, they took on the role of Routing and Internet Support Engineer for Noel Communications, Inc. and Commodore for Bellingham Yacht Club. Since 2011, they have held the role of CTO for San Juan Cable, where they are responsible for IP deployment over existing Cable infrastructure and organizational rebuild, as well as Docsis deployment, fiber optic and cable build out.

Ray Poorman obtained their FAA Private Pilot Single Engine certification from Alpha Aviation in 1991. Ray then attended Skagit Valley Community College from 1983 to 1986, earning an AA & ATA in Computer Systems Technology. From 1986 to 1988, they attended Western Washington University and obtained a BA in Business Administration - Management Information Systems. In 1992, they obtained their MCSE+I certification from Microsoft Certification. Ray also obtained their MCNE and GWCNE certifications from Novell Certification between 1990 and 1996. In 2010, they obtained an Apple Specialist certification from Apple in OS/X Integration and a Merchant Mariner, 50 Ton, Sailing & Towing Endorsement from Zenith Maritime Academy. Additionally, they obtained a Washington L&I - AD09 Telecommunications Administrator certification from the Washington Department of Labor & Industries.
