Leonard Burton currently serves as the President and CEO of the Center for the Study of Social Policy, a position held since April 2023, focusing on systemic change and the dismantling of oppressive structures affecting marginalized communities. Previously, Leonard held the role of Senior Fellow at CSSP from January 2015 to February 2023, where efforts were centered on the Youth Thrive initiative aimed at promoting the well-being of young people. Prior experience includes serving as Chief Operating Officer for the Jim Casey Youth Opportunities Initiative, where Leonard advanced operational processes and strategic direction, and roles at M&B Consulting and the Tennessee Department of Children's Services, including Assistant Commissioner of Child Welfare & Regional Services and Director of Foster Care. Leonard's educational background includes a BA in Public Management from Austin Peay State University and multiple Master's degrees in Education and Public Administration from Tennessee State University.
