Melissa P. currently serves as the Director of Preparedness and Response at the Council of State and Territorial Epidemiologists since October 2023. Previously, Melissa held various key positions at the Oregon Health Authority from January 2009 to October 2023, including Interim Deputy Chief of Staff for Strategic Operations, Interim Business Director for the Oregon State Public Health Laboratory, COVID-19 Response Director, and Manager of the Preparedness Surveillance & Epidemiology Team. Earlier experience includes a role as Senior Research Assistant at OHSU from April 2005 to January 2009 and Emergency Communications Officer for the City of Portland from January 2004 to April 2005. Melissa holds a Master of Public Health in Health Promotion from Portland State University and a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from the University of Puget Sound.
