Sassan Saatchi has extensive experience in the field of environmental and sustainability research. Sassan began their career in 1991 at the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory as a Senior Scientist. During their time there, they worked on projects related to the global carbon cycle and ecosystem. In addition, Saatchi has served as an Adjunct Professor at the Institute of Environmental and Sustainability and the UCLA Institute of Environment, starting in 2000. Recently, in 2022, they founded and became the CEO of CTrees.org, an organization focused on environmental conservation.
